Location, Location, Location: A Summer Safety Reminder

Summer is here! For many Texans, that means heading outdoors, attending events and concerts, and finding ways to stay cool while enjoying time off with family and friends.

While safety might not be the first thing on your mind when you’re out having fun, taking just a moment to observe your surroundings and identify nearby landmarks could make all the difference in an emergency. If you ever need to call 9-1-1 while away from home, being able to describe your exact (or as close as possible) location can help first responders reach you faster.

To make it easier to remember what information is helpful to share, think of it like a “MadLibs” word puzzle. Use specific nouns and adjectives to describe your location: What are you near? What do you see? Which way did you go?

We’ve created a few fun templates that you can download and use to practice with kids or even on your own. They’re a great way to build awareness and make sure you’re ready for anything this summer.

Remember: In an emergency, call 9-1-1, know your location, and stay #911ReadyTX!
